Model Description
Herpa 1/200th scale High Density Plastic 573986 Lufthansa Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner “100 Years” – D-ABPU “Berlin”. Available to pre-order at Flying Tigers.
The stylized crane, which is now known worldwide, took off for the first time in 1919 for the Deutsche Luft-Reederei. Seven years later, on 6 April 1926, Deutsche Luft Hansa AG was founded with its headquarters in Berlin through the merger of the companies Deutscher Aero Lloyd AG and Junkers Luftverkehr AG. The name was intended to commemorate the Hanseatic League, the historically important association of German merchants in the Middle Ages. To mark the 100th anniversary of its founding in 2026, Lufthansa is presenting a Dreamliner in a unique design. The special livery impresses with a blue aircraft fuselage, over which a white crane hovers, whose wings merge into the wings. The wings of the aircraft thus visually become wings of the crane. Designed as a trademark by graphic designer and architect Otto Firle as early as 1918, the crane has become Lufthansa’s unmistakable distinguishing feature worldwide over the decades. From December, the Boeing 787-9 with the registration D-ABPU is scheduled to take off in regular scheduled service and duly ring in the anniversary year 2026.
