Model Description
Herpa 1/200th scale 573894 High Density Plastic Boeing 777-9 – N779XW. Available to pre-order at Flying Tigers.
After years of delays, it now looks like Boeing’s future flagship is close to delivery. The final tests for certification of the 777-9 are expected to be successfully completed before the end of 2026, so that the 76.7-meter-long aircraft will receive official certification before the end of the year. All five test aircraft, including the N779XW, will be used. As the first of currently eleven airlines to have ordered a total of more than 500 units of this most modern version of the “Triple Seven”, Lufthansa will be able to use the first units in the 2027 summer flight schedule, according to the current status. In order to achieve a higher payload while saving fuel, the wing was increased by seven metres to 71.8 metres. To ensure that the aircraft fits into the standardised storage spaces of the gates, the wing tips can be folded up. This is also the case with this new shape on a scale of 1:200. And since it’s often not just the size that counts: the weight has been more than doubled compared to its predecessor, the 777-300, in order to further increase its value as a special collector’s item. A display stand is included.
