Herpa 1/200th scale 573023 Alaska Airlines Lockheed L-1649A Starliner. Buy now online at Flying Tigers.
In memory of the gold rush in Alaska shortly before the end of the 19th century, Alaska Airlines launched its “Golden Nugget Service” in the early 1960s. Not only was a new red and gold paint job introduced, but the interior also appeared in red and gold tones. The flight attendants were dressed in historical attire and wore long velvet skirts, loose hats, and puff-sleeved shirts. From 1962 to 1968, Alaska Airlines used two L-1649s as part of its own route network and for military charter tasks. This Starliner was later purchased by Lufthansa, along with two others, to restore it to airworthy condition. Unfortunately, the project has been stopped and the future of N7316C remains uncertain.
