In the 1970s, Air Canada started operating dedicated cargo aircraft, retiring all aircraft and the Air Canada Cargo brand in the 1990s. It was not until the 2020s and the Covid-19 Pandemic that the airline decided to reestablish its cargo division. All six 767s currently operated were originally passenger aircraft operated by parent Air Canada, and after being retired from service, were converted to cargo aircraft from 2022 onwards.
