Even though the airline’s roots date back to 1956, when the North Vietnamese government established an air force regiment that operated as an airline under the name Vietnam Civil Aviation, the airline known today was officially established as a civil and commercial company on May 27, 1995. Over the past three decades, the airline has grown significantly, operating one of Asia’s youngest fleets with nearly 100 aircraft, with over 300 daily flights across Asia, as well as to far-flung destinations in Europe and North America. To celebrate this anniversary, the airline has painted the iconic Lac bird on this 787 Dreamliner. The mythical bird appears on bronze drums created by the Dong Son culture, a Bronze Age culture in Southeast Asia that dates back to 1000 BC.
