With the introduction of the Boeing Dreamliner, the Austrian airline is modernizing its long-haul fleet in one fell swoop. Initially, the three remaining Boeing 767s with an average age of 25 years are to leave the fleet by 2026. This will be followed in a second step by the six Boeing 777s, so that from 2028 Austrian will operate a uniform fleet of up to twelve Boeing 787-9s on long-haul routes. Originally delivered to Vietnamese Bamboo Airways in 2019, the Dreamliner, which was handed over to Austrian Airlines in April 2024, was given the registration OE-LPM.
