Delivered in February 1986, this KC-10 tanker was used five years later during Operation Desert Storm to liberate Kuwait. Below the cockpit, a chained alligator can be found on the left side. Since there are numerous alligators in the swamps of Louisiana, the crew has jokingly assigned this animal the role of the “yard dog”, i.e. the guard dog for the state. It is the first KC-10 to be produced in 1:500 with the “Shamu” camouflage scheme, named after a famous orca that was paraded for years at the Sea World water park in the United States.
