Between 1974 and 1981, the airline, then still operating as Alia Royal Jordanian Airlines, put six Boeing 727-200 Advanced aircraft into service. Occasionally, even His Majesty King Hussein I piloted the aircraft himself, which is popular with pilots and passengers. This novelty bears the current and elegant painting de Royal Jordanian and was christened “Azraq”, a desert castle in eastern Jordan.
