The Ki-100, or Type 5 Fighter, was a Japanese Army aircraft from World War II, a derivative of the Type 3 Fighter “Hien” (Ki-61).
The Type 5 fighter, a makeshift modification of the Type 3 fighter with the Ha-112 radial air-cooled engine and modified fuselage, exhibited surprisingly excellent performance despite its origins, allowing the Army to acquire an unexpectedly high-performance aircraft.
SWS kit thoroughly recreates the Type 5 fighter, which successfully underwent a rare conversion from a liquid-cooled engine to an air-cooled engine, based on research of the actual aircraft, with Parts configuration that allows you to experience the modification process and structure of the real thing.
SWS Standard has brilliantly reproduced every detail that reflects the struggles of the Kawasaki design team, from the slender fuselage of the Type 3 fighter, which was forcibly made to fit aerodynamically, to the large fillet connecting the fuselage and wings.
