Well another week under the belt, models dispatched, fewer snags and more acquaintances made (hopefully friendships). I am looking forward to a busy Airshow weekend, weather permitting and will be up and down the motorways to enjoy a passion that has been with me since I was 10 years old.
On Saturday I will be at Duxford for the VE Day Airshow. I am very much looking forward to seeing the Bristol Blenheim fly and getting some great pictures for my collection. Then hopefully on Sunday travelling north up the M1 to Bruntingthorpe to see the Cold War jets limber up on the runway with some fast taxi runs, a lot of noise and again some shots of the aircraft that have become my firm favourite over the years… the English Electric Lightning. I hope to be able to report back on two great events next week.
In the meantime and closer to home at Sywell Aerodrome, the featured shot in this week’s Newsletter is the DeHavilland Vampire WZ507 owned by the Vampire Preservation Trust. The Vampire Preservation Group operates WZ507 (G-VTII), believed to be the only airworthy de Havilland Vampire T11 in the northern hemisphere. Piloted by Mark Hooton and navigated by Titania this beautiful aircraft graced the skies over Sywell for nearly three days. Many enthusiasts enjoyed flypasts, close inspections of the cockpit and an opportunity to get close to the aircraft to get those extra special shots.
This aircraft was modeled by Corgi back in 2009 and is quite difficult to find on the secondary market, 1500 being produced at the time. Many of you have taken advantage of the special offers on the website, and thank you for all your kind comments and even more so your orders ! I have added more products to the site and in particular the New Releases section and the Future Releases section. Please click onto these links to see the latest additions. In the meantime those of you living in the UK , I hope you have a great Bank Holiday Weekend and let’s hope for some kind airshow weather.
